That cold chilly night and a Love Story

It was such a cold night. The sky was dark and a few stars were twinkling. Most of the shops were closed and only some loners were taking a stroll. But, something was wrong with her, surely. Otherwise, who else would want to wander on lonely silent roads on a chilly night, (and that too without any coat). She was looking for someone. Her eyes were searching for him and she was running from one street to the other. How could she lose him? Where did he go? Why did he leave him? All these questions were popping up in her mind in succession. She had cared for him like anything since the time she met him, the past two years of her life. And his absence made her restless and uncomfortable (of course!). She was missing him; even a heartless person could sense that.

She was calling out his name, Arthur, on every path in a hope to find him. Yes, Arthur he was. She kept this name because she found him brave and strong after he chased off the thieves “once” in the mid of a similar chilly night. She remembered him sleeping on her lap and cuddling and fiddling with his soft hairs which were smoother than silk. The innocence in Arthur was adorable, so evident in his eyes. He refused to grow up keeping the child in him alive. He still at times loved playing hide and seek and this seemed one of those nights.

She searched him on every street, at every nook and corner, at all their favorite stores where they used to shop. But, he was nowhere. She asked every person in her way but there was no clue about him. Eventually, she began to lose hope. Tears in her eyes, her aching feet and shivering in cold, she approached towards the nearby railway station to board the train for her home. And then happened something.

He was there. Yes, Arthur, he was there. She was just entering the station when she saw him. He was standing there at the edge of platform. Within seconds, she got her world (which almost seemed lost to her) back. All the pain just disappeared by magic of seeing him. But, wait, what was he trying to do? Was he jumping on the tracks? Why would he do so? Rubbishing these thoughts, she rushed towards Arthur to save him if he was going to jump, to tell him that she loved her a lot if he forgot that, to just......well perhaps, she had no time to think about it and had to save him.

Collecting all her energy, she jumped upon the turnstiles and ran towards him. The train was nearing him. She ran faster, faster she ran!!! And in a sudden gush leaped over him and took him into his arms. The train rushed past them like a whirlwind. Yes, they were safe and.......

There he was, near to her; she was overjoyed, tears outburst was more or less natural. What would have she done if she had lost her. He was the most important part of her life. If he would not have been there, who will wake her up in morning by jumping on the bed? Who will lick her feet and whom will she pat? He was the best pet in her life. He was so human to her. She loved playing catch with him and adored him when she used to make him dress with those ribbons and those tiny shoes. She liked him standing in the kitchen just looking at her when she cooked. She loved to bath him and the water which he splashed out of the tub. Ohhh, he was so lovely.  He wagged his tail, starting licking her hands and hugged her. She hugged him back tightly and promised to take care of him more from the next time. She thanked god that he returned the love of her life and proceeded so happily towards her home keeping Arthur close to her all the time.

  1. I think I had guessed it right the moment the male part of the plot had silky smooth hair and slept in her lap. :P

    Interesting plot.
